Answer to Question 1

Responses should include clearing mucus from the baby's throat, assessing the
baby's functioning using the Apgar scale, cutting the umbilical cord, weighing the
baby, and wrapping it to preserve body heat.

Answer to Question 2

Responses should include the difference between preterm births, those births
occurring at 35 weeks or fewer after conception, and small-for-gestational age births
where the baby's weight is significantly lower than expected considering the time
since conception. Small-for-gestational births are more worrisome because it implies
harm during pregnancy.
