Answer to Question 1

The independent variable is the variable that is introduced to see what effect it will
have on the dependent variable. The dependent variable is the variable that may
change as a result of the new condition added by the experimenter. Examples of
each variable will vary.

Answer to Question 2

The critical period of development is a time during which something must happen if it
is ever going to happen. A sensitive period of development is a time when
development is most likely to happen, although it can happen at a different time.
Examples of each period will vary.
