Answer to Question 1

In the product approach, intelligence is defined by means of coming up with correct outcomes, such as the solution to a math problem or the definition of a word. The process approach, emphasized in the psychometric tradition, defines intelligence in terms of the processes people use to solve problems. Examples include integrating different pieces of information and applying old knowledge to a new situation.
