Answer to Question 1

Passion is the intense physiological desire for someone. Intimacy is the degree of sharing of one's thoughts and actions. Commitment is the willingness of each member of a couple to stay together through both good and bad times. Early in most relationships, passion is usually high and intimacy and commitment are lower. As passion fades, either intimacy develops or the relationship is likely to end. If the relationship continues to persist, even in the face of difficulties, commitment will develop. Generally, research finds that as the length of a relationship increases, passion and intimacy decrease but commitment gets stronger.
