Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

1. Time-based conflict takes place when demands from the work domain and the family
domain vie for a parent's time and attention. This is the most common type of role conflict found in working families. For instance, a meeting that runs late at work might make Mom late for coaching her son's soccer game. A last-minute business call might make Dad late for a parentteacher conference.
2. Strain-based conflict occurs when the demands in one domain make it difficult to carry out effective role performance in another domain. For example, consider a mother who finds it difficult to concentrate on her job or complete her job tasks on time because she is also caring for her elderly ill father.
3. Behavior-based conflict occurs when incompatibilities exist between the demands of the work role and the demands of the family role. For example, on the job, police officers
may need to be aggressive, forceful, emotionally detached, and uncompromising. Airline
pilots need to be task oriented, detail oriented, hard driving, and single-minded in their
purpose. Although these behavior traits may help these professionals be successful in their careers, bringing home these same behaviors to family life may not settle well with the spouse and the children.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
