Answer to Question 1

The findings of the study suggest that cohabiting couples were more likely to have sexual intercourse more frequently than married couples (three times per week compared to once per week), and were not only more likely to have sex outside of the cohabiting relationship, but were also less secretive than married couples about the outside sexual activities. In cohabitant relationships, the female was more likely to initiate sexual acts than are married women. Men in cohabiting relationships tended to be more committed to the relationship if the partner was attractive.

Answer to Question 2

The student should assert that sexual dysfunctions in women include the inability to have an orgasm, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), and vaginismus (vaginal spasms). Women with an inability to have an orgasm may need to learn other techniques for orgasm, such as masturbation. Dyspareunia can be caused by lack of lubrication, infections, or deep penetration. Different sexual techniques, sexual lubricants, and medical intervention can help. Vaginismus can be caused by stress or trauma. Health care professionals can help with this problem.
