Answer to Question 1

The student should indicate that dating is a filtering process to find a compatible partner. People usually are looking for partners with the same homogamous characteristics as themselves. People are filtered on the bases of propinquity, endogamy, and exogamy, and they are affected by race, age, class, physical appearance, religion, individual values, and role compatibility.
