Answer to Question 1

TRUE
In a sentence, nouns function as subjects, direct objects, indirect objects, objects of a
preposition, appositives, and complements. A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, idea,
concept, or quality.

Answer to Question 2

It is important to use gender-neutral words because in our society, men and women are
considered equal. Using gender-bias words, like congressman, can make women feel
excluded from this profession. Gender-bias words show favoritism toward or imply a greater
importance of one gender over another. These words do not accurately reflect today's world
and are not appropriate in today's business communication. Instead, gender-neutral words
should be used as they do not indicate maleness or femaleness.
