Answer to Question 1

These psychological needs are:
1. Intimacy is a basic, universal psychological need that drives us to share our innermost feelings with another or others.
2. Social integration needs are the innate needs that make us desire to be a part of a social group, or the need to belong. These needs propel us to vent our worries, fears, and anxieties with others.
3. We all have an internal desire to nurture and to be nurtured. This need is best met when we have someone in our life to take care of-and to take care of us.
4. There will be times in our lives when we need assistance from others. Interpersonal relationships provide this.
5. When we have a significant other in our life, it reassures us that we have worth, and that we are wanted, needed, and loved.
According to Weiss, it is through our intimate relationships that our basic psychological needs, and hence, our basic relationship needs, are met.
