Answer to Question 1

FALSE

Answer to Question 2

Unlike conventional psychological theories (such as psychoanalysis) that focus on the individual person and his or her behavioral problems or emotional distress, Family Systems Theory encourages the examination and the inclusion of the entire family unit-the family system- in the medical or psychological treatment of one family member.
Acknowledging that the family is comprised of interconnected, interdependent components, Family Systems Theory can be used to examine any realm of family living, including communication and conflict. Understanding the interconnection of family members is important, because it is within the family system that communication patterns and behaviors are acquired (from the family of origin), and it is within the family system that every family member plays a part in the family's health and functioning.
