Explain how to use the 95 confidence interval for the slope of the population regression line to test the null hypothesis that the population slope is zero.

Answer to Question 1

Since 1 = 0 is not within the 95 confidence interval, we reject the null hypothesis at the 5 level of significance. We can conclude that a linear relationship might exist between the number of unemployed persons and the federal unemployment insurance payments.
