Answer to Question 1

Find x0 such that P(X  x0 ) = 0.05 = P(Z  z0 ).
Since the area to the left of z0 is smaller than 0.5, z0 must be smaller than zero such
that P(z0 < Z < 0 ) = 0.45, so z0 = -1.645. Thus, x0 = 75 + (-1.645 )(4 ) = 68.42

Answer to Question 2

This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
