For data that has a bell-shaped distribution, will the interquartile range span a larger set of values than the range from one standard deviation below the mean to one standard deviation above the mean? Explain why or why not.

Interquartile range contains the middle 50. The mean  1 standard deviation captures the middle 68 of the observations. Therefore the interquartile range has to be smaller.
