The form is sealed in an envelope that is not opened unless the urine test is positive. An observer remains in the restroom while the employee produces the specimen. Strict chain-of-custody standards are followed. The sample is mailed to a laboratory where an EMIT test is performed. If positive for drug use, a confirmatory GC/MS test is completed.
