The Equal Pay Act's coverage is similar to that of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The act applies to all employers engaged in commerce (interstate commerce), and it applies to all employees of an enterprise engaged in commerce. Virtually all substantial business operations are covered. The act also covers state and local government employees.
