Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
If no arm is available, blood should be drawn below the intravenous access site, with the tourniquet laced below the catheter site. It is also preferable to have the nurse stop the infusion for 2 minutes before the specimen is drawn.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Universal standard precautions are written to protect employees from possible infectious contamination. Other standards address how to prevent acid spills, how to decontaminate equipment, and what fire extinguisher to use in different types of fire.
