Answer to Question 1

Answer: Innate Immune Response (IRR)
This is the body's first response to pathogens. Pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP) are recognized by a leukocyte's surface receptors for PAMP (pattern recognition receptors PRR). Once a pathogen has been recognized, neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages can phagocytose and kill the organism. The innate IR is rapid but limited.

Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
