Answer to Question 1

1. Donors must be mentally competent and over age 18 to donate their own bodies. 2. Parents or legal guardians may consent for a child or dependent adult to become an organ donor; the next of kin may provide consent as well. 3. A physician who is also on the transplant team must not determine the death of the donor.
