Answer to Question 1

The depressed individual experiences an overwhelming sadness, hopelessness, and despair; has difficulty sleeping and no appetite; feels worthless and thinks frequently of suicide to escape from an intolerable situation.

Answer to Question 2

Since the eyes move together, both eyes may be patched to limit eye movement which could cause further trauma to the damaged cornea or eyelid.
