Answer to Question 1

Students should memorize the answers to these questions concerning submission of their hours. If they don't know this information before the externship, many will get into the habit of still not remembering from week to week, forgetting to submit timesheets, and causing delays in having their attendance posted. A problem also exists for the externship coordinator/faculty overseeing the externships as this individual ends up trying to contact these occasionally forgetful students every time timesheets are due. Students must be aware of the penalty for not submitting hours on time. Perhaps their grade will be affected by each late timesheet. Verification of the hours worked at the site must be documented, usually by the site manager's signature. Students should be told that the school will cross-verify the times submitted by externs with the site staff, so that any attempts to manipulate hours will be discovered and dealt with promptly.
