Answer to Question 1

3
Depakote can cause fatal hepatotoxicity. The nurse should monitor the client's liver function studies. Complete blood count, serum sodium, and sedimentation rate are not necessary to monitor for the administration of this medication for the client.

Answer to Question 2

3
Surgery may result in swelling that could impede blood return. Antiembolic stockings will aid in blood return and reduce lower extremity edema postoperatively. These stockings are not used to keep the legs warm, serve as a nonslip slipper, nor make it easier to ambulate after surgery.
