Increased intravenous pressure is associated with the development of venous stars. Psoriasis causes scaly red patches, generally on the scalp, knees, back, and genitals.

This is a venous star, which is a flat blue lesion with radiating, cascading, or linear veins extending from the center. It ranges in size from 3 to 25 cm. Purpura are flat, reddish blue, irregularly shaped, extensive patches of varying size. Ecchymoses are flat, nonblanchable areas resulting from release of blood into superficial tissues. Spider angiomas are a form of telangiectasis that are bright red dots with tiny radiating blood vessels, ranging in size from a pinpoint to 2 cm.
