Answer to Question 1

Answer: B, E

There are many theories about the causes and risk factors about fibromyalgia. It is generally conceded that it is a problem for women more than men. Having a family member with the disease also increases the risk of development. The disease has not been linked to overexercise. It is a theory that fibromyalgia causes some depression, not the other way around. Diets have been suggested as possible treatment but are not thought to cause the disease.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: C

Sickle cell disease is an autosomal recessive disorder. Both parents must have the trait in order for a child to have a 25 chance of having this disease. The most appropriate response by the nurse is to tell the parents the baby will be tested for the disease.
