Answer to Question 1

If you believe the father should have some rights in this decision,
how would you balance the rights of the father and the mother?

Answer to Question 2

Although exact
numbers are difficult to obtain, some estimate that as many as 7,000 minor children
are living in Christian Science households with parents who refuse all medical
treatment for their children. If a minor child in such a family dies of a treatable
disease such as diabetes or common infection, should the parents be charged with a
crime? Is it ethical for the parents to refuse treatment? Does the state have a moral
obligation to intervene and insist on treatment? Use reliable sources to identify cases
in which Christian Science parents have been charged with crimes in these
circumstances and analyze what you believe would be the most ethical outcome.
