Answer to Question 1

Conduct
research on the internet from reliable sources to identify the circumstances under which
it is permitted and the conditions which must be met. Do the practices in this small nation
suggest guidelines that should be adopted in the U.S. in states that are considering
assisted suicide or that already have implemented it?

Answer to Question 2

She asked a court
for permission to be given a lethal dose of pills so she could commit suicide. The court
concluded that denying a disabled person a right to assisted suicide would violate her
rights to equality, life, liberty, and security. If suicide is legal, then should assisted suicide
also be necessarily legal? Would it also be ethical? Are there risks to society in
permitting assisted suicide in these situations? For example, might the elderly or
impoverished be pressured to request assisted suicide?
