Answer to Question 1

The Mycobacterium enters the victim by way of the respiratory tract and establishes itself in the lungs or almost any organ. Initial symptoms are mild. Then the TB enters a dormant stage, which may last for decades, being kept in check by the immune response. Up to decades later, TB may become active when the immune system fails due to an extended viral infection, increasing age, serious injury, or substance abuse. Once activated, TB establishes large colonies in the lungs and other organs and destroys functional tissue by the release of toxins, replacing the tissue with fibrous plaques called tubercles.

Answer to Question 2

FALSE
Explanation: Mature neutrophils are segmented neutrophils or segs. Bands or stabs are immature neutrophils.
