Homework, correct?...lol...
Iraq was never involved in the 9/11 attacks. In fact, Iraq has never once attacked the United States, and the 2003 invasion of a sleeping Iraq was a WAR CRIME perpetrated by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowicz in collusion with the Carlyle Group (see Michael Moore's documentary film, "Fahrenheit 9/11" for more specifics). Once the illegal war began, our stock market artificially spiked the price of oil and our gas prices shot up overnight to $3 then $4 a gallon, and in some places even going as high as $5/gallon, bankrupting American families and wreaking havoc for small businesses due to higher shipping costs. [Note: There was never an actual SHORTAGE of oil or gas, but the oil companies (in collusion with oilmen like Cheney/Halliburton/KGB and GW Bush) saw an opportunity to PRICE GOUGE and make RECORD PROFITS at the expense of the American economy and the American people.] This price gouging meant fewer tourist vacations, therefore less tourist revenue for our states whose budgets rely upon tourism dollars, which meant states then began to run large DEFICITS and began laying off workers and cutting back on services, which further SHRANK our economy---fewer employees means fewer paychecks; fewer paychecks means less consumer spending and also less revenues for the state through taxes. People began maxing out their credit cards, using up their savings, and eventually defaulting on bills, including mortgage payments, which led to the collapse of our housing and credit markets (over-inflated in value from 2001 until finally the house of cards began caving in, according to NPR, around 2004 and 2005). The Republicans' DEREGULATION of businesses, banks, and Wall Street led to bad-risk derivatives betting with other people's money, and this eventually caused the FINANCIAL SYSTEM MELTDOWN that reached full tilt in late 2007 and 2008 (Krugman, 2008). This was was GROSSLY MISMANAGED from Day One of the illegal invasion and, as a result, nearly 5000 American lives were lost needlessly as well as hundreds of thousands of Iraqis---INNOCENT Iraqis---were killed and scores more soldiers and Iraqis were injured seriously. None of this would have occurred, nor would the Bush/Cheney administration have been able to keep the war costs OFF THE BOOKS because there would have been no war in Iraq.
The Taliban was in control of the government of Afghanistan when the 9/11 attacks upon the U.S. were ALLOWED to happen (I firmly believe the Bush administration let the attacks occur in order to create a false premise for an illegal attack upon Iraq (as a means to a nefarious end). The more militant elements of the Taliban had trained al-Qiada soldiers and were strong sympathizers with Osama bin Laden (relative of the Bush family's long-time friends the bin Laden family of Saudi Arabia...see Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" and also "The Bush Crime Family Tree" website.
The war in Afghanistan began in 2001, shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Arguments could be made that the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11 was perhaps justified, but just as many arguments against doing so can also be made. Again, these war costs were kept OFF THE BUDGET BOOKS by the Bush/Cheney administration. ALL of the costs incurred were to be subsidied by LOANS from CHINA, so our revenues were lost.
