Callus refers to an area of hard, thickened skin caused by repeated pressure or friction. Callus also refers to an area of bone consisting of fibrous tissue and cartilage, characteristic of bone that is undergoing healing from a fracture.
Callus is a noun and callous is an adjective.

Alta means high, baja means low. Patella alta describes a patella that is positioned higher (more proximal) than normal. Patella baja describes a patella that is positioned lower (more distal) than normal.
