Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

2
1. Incorrect. A urinary tract infection may result from overdistention of the bladder, but is not the most serious consequence.
2. Correct. Immediately after birth, excessive bleeding can occur if the bladder becomes distended because this pushes the uterus up and to the side and prevents the uterus from firmly contracting.
3. Incorrect. A ruptured bladder may result from a severely overdistended bladder. However, vaginal bleeding would most likely occur before this level of overdistention.
4. Incorrect. Bladder distention may result from bladder wall atony. The most serious con-cern associated with bladder distention is excessive uterine bleeding.
