Correct Complications of immobility can affect the skin, the gastrointestinal
system, and the respiratory system. The child should be repositioned every
2 hours to prevent skin breakdown. Stool softeners should be administered
to avoid constipation and the child should cough and deep breathe to
maintain respiratory function.
Incorrect Egg-crate or sheep skin mattresses can be useful in preventing skin
breakdown, and fluids should be increased to prevent constipation, not
decreased.
