Answer to Question 1

C
Complete cervical dilation is 10 cm, so this client's dilation is 50 percent complete. When fetal presenting part is at the ischial spines, the fetus would be at 0 station, but in this case the fetus is at -1 . Effacement refers to thinning of the cervix and is recorded in percentage not centimeters. This client is only effaced by 80 percent, so effacement is incomplete.

Answer to Question 2

B

Feedback
A Altered fetal cerebral blood flow would result in early decelerations in the FHR.
B Variable decelerations can occur any time during the uterine contracting phase and are caused by compression of the umbilical cord.
C Uteroplacental insufficiency would result in late decelerations in the FHR.
D Fetal hypoxemia would result in tachycardia initially and then bradycardia if hypoxia continues.
