Trace protein in the urine should be monitored, but does not necessarily indicate a problem. During the first 8 months of pregnancy, a woman with a normal BMI can gain approximately 1 pound/week, so a 5-pound weight gain in a month, or 4 weeks, would not signal a problem.

Because the neonate's body surface area is much larger compared to its weight, applying environmental heat via the radiant warmer to as much of the body surface as possible is the most effective method for increasing the body temperature.
