Answer to Question 1

A
Advanced maternal age is the most common factor associated with Down syndrome.

Answer to Question 2

A
Allowing the family to hold the baby helps the grieving parents cope with the loss of the infant. Letting a family member or neighbor dispose of the infant's toys, furniture, and so on, to avoid unnecessary trauma to the parents is very inappropriate. The parents should take care of this in their own time. This is part of the grieving process. Naming the baby will help in the grief process by promoting attachment and identifying the infant as a person. Parents who have lost infants need a strong support system to cope with the loss. They do not need to be isolated from parents with healthy infants.
