Answer to Question 1

B
Response:
Hemophilia is an X-linked recessive disorder. This means that both the father and the mother must have the gene for hemophilia to pass it on to their children. Also, their sons will have hemophilia, while their daughters have only a 50 chance of having the disorder. If the father has hemophilia and the mother has hemophilia, their children will have the disease. If the father has hemophilia and the mother is a carrier, all their children have a 50 chance of getting the disease.

Answer to Question 2

C
Response:
Telling the child firmly, We don't scream in the office gets the point across to the child that his behavior is unacceptable while role-modeling appropriate communication. Telling the child to stop tearing up magazines does not give him direction for appropriate behavior. Asking the child if he would quit throwing toys gives him an opportunity to say no, as does asking OK? at the end of a direction.
