Checking the placement of the string is necessary to determine whether the IUD is still cor-rectly positioned. If the string is shorter or longer than when checked previously, she should contact her physician.
An IUD can be left in place for up to 10 years.
A second method of contraception is not required after insertion of the IUD, it is effective immediately.
A vinegar douche weekly for 4 weeks is not required.
