  1. Rotating injection sites.
   2. Administration of insulin via insulin pump.
   3. Using a sliding scale for additional coverage.
   4. Checking blood sugars at mealtime and bedtime.

The nurse is doing discharge teaching with the parents of a newly diagnosed type I diabetic. The nurse knows that the mother needs more teaching when she states:
