Stimulant laxatives may produce painful cramping for the child. Warm packs, such as a heating pad, may help ease the discomfort. Bowel training is recommended to assist the child in establishing regular bowel habits. Thirty minutes is too long for the child to sit on the toilet. The time should be limited to 15 minutes.
