Asking middle-income countries such as India and China to make sacrifices in energy consumption and GDP growth for the sake of future generations is, in their view, somewhat hypocritical. Better, India argues, for the world's rich countries to make sacrifices, particularly since they generated the majority of greenhouse gases.
