Higher unemployment; lower educational attainment; employment in low-paying fields; discrimination; African Americans are more likely to live in the South where wages are lower.

Answer to Question 2

Banks began giving minorities loans, but they charged them higher fees and were more likely to give them subprime mortgages they knew the recipients may not be able to pay back. When minority homeowners turned to the bank for loans to maintain their property, they were more likely to be given predatory loans.
