Answer to Question 1

An example of role strain might be when a student is torn between studying for an exam and going to the football game with the university's big rival. Role conflict would occur when that same student feels pressure to get good grades, but also has a job that takes up much personal time.

Answer to Question 2

A status is a specialized position within a group. A role is a set of norms specifying the rights and obligations associated with a status.
