Differentiate among deficiency, bias, and structural discrimination theories of racial and ethnic inequality. Which of these theories do you think best explains current race relations in the United States? Why? Be specific and use examples.

Ideal Answer: The ideal answer should include:
1. Articulate each of the three theories.
2. Note their strengths and weaknesses.
3. Make a case for which one is most useful using examples.

Answer to Question 2

Ideal Answer: The ideal answer should include:
1. Explain institutional racism.
2. Explain individual racism.
3. Note which of them is more relevant right now by articulating how they are different.
4. Use examples from employment, health, and/or education to support argument.
