Analyze how the basic tenets of capitalism explain the persistence of poverty. Is poverty an inherent part of capitalism?

1. Identify the fundamental premise of capitalism.
2. Outline the three ways maximizing profits perpetuates poverty.
3. Support an argument about whether this means poverty is inherent to capitalism.

Ideal Answer: The ideal answer should include:
1. Outline the basic tenets of institutional discrimination.
2. Identify who benefits and suffers.
3. Explain how the system can maintain itself without individual discrimination.
