Answer to Question 1

a

Answer to Question 2

Same-sex marriages were a part of the Native American culture when Columbus landed in the Caribbean. A man or woman who wanted to be a member of the opposite sex went through a ceremony to officially declare their sex was changed. In the 1980s and 90s, several European nations legalized same-sex unions. Same sex marriages are legal in Canada. A handful of U.S. states allow people of the same sex to marry, while 40 states have laws that do not allow this type of union. Some states recognize registered domestic partnerships for gay and lesbian unions and afford them the same benefits and rights as heterosexual couples. Same-sex couples have similar problems as heterosexual couples but are more likely to break up. This issue will probably be at the forefront of controversy in the coming years with the movement to legalize gay and lesbian marriages being strongly opposed by certain groups on religious and moral grounds.
