Answer to Question 1

The system is designed to turn most students into dependable workers who will not question their supervisors or bosses. Although it also seeks to produce some innovators, these innovators must also be loyal to the social system as it exists.

Answer to Question 2

Conflict theorists would classify this as a gender struggle waged by predominantly male physicians against the predominantly female midwives who had previously dominated childbirth service. Political power was central to the adoption of child delivery by physicians which further supports it as a conflict issue.
