Why were the revolutions that occurred in the Middle East and North Africa during the Arab Spring of 2011 political as opposed to social revolutions?

The revolution in Egypt might even be described as a half-revolution. It overthrew the dictator Hosni Mubarak and destroyed Mubarak's powerful political party, but some elements of the old political regimeabove all, the armed forces and the judiciarysurvived the revolution intact and continue to wield tremendous power. Egypt's rich elite (which includes many military officers) has also held onto its wealth and economic power.
