Power is the ability of a person to carry out his/her will, even over the resistance of others. Authority refers to the social process through which power comes to be legitimated. The forms authority takes may be traditional, rational-legal, and charismatic.

the number of years people can expect to live, varying among cultures (from barely 30 years to more than 80 years) due to geographic location, diet, technology, etc.
