An approach to attacking environmental problems that emerged in the 1980s and 1990s is called environmental partnerships, which involve voluntary collaborative efforts among a number of organizations that have a stake in environmental issues. The partners in such an effort might include corporations, government agencies, environmental interest groups, and landowners or other groups of people most directly affected by an environmental problem. The goal of the partnership is to identify an environmental problem and develop a solution acceptable to all the stakeholders.
