A 36-year-old female is conscious and alert and complaining of palpitations. She denies chest pain, difficulty breathing, or loss of consciousness but becomes dizzy with exertion. She states that she has been experiencing agitation, insomnia, intolerance to heat, and weight loss. Physical exam reveals exophthalmos and an enlarged thyroid gland.
