Answer to Question 1

There appears to be a strong effect of teacher expectancy on students' achievement and participation (e.g., students' reading achievement).

Answer to Question 2

Adolescent students respond well to classroom rules and procedures when they are easy to understand and are well communicated by the teacher. Make sure students know what the classroom rules are and post them for middle school students. Students may also participate in rule setting.
