Answer to Question 1

Most elementary school children practice the morality of constraint (or moral realism). They treat rules as sacred and are bothered if someone suggests that rules be changed to fit special situations.

The critical constructivist perspective holds that students' social, racial, and ethnic backgrounds can be an impediment to the active construction of new ideas, but teachers should nevertheless look for ways to help students overcome those impediments.
